Monarch Butterflies

Years ago, at this time of year, we were used to seeing large clouds of Monarch Butterflies winging their way along as they began their trek south. The clouds grew larger as more and more joined in. Nowadays we’re lucky to see a few Monarchs each summer and there are no clouds of them in our area any more.

Last week I was excited to finally see one in our garden and happily, it stayed around for a long while giving me time to take some photographs as it flew from one Autumn Joy Sedum to another. What a beautiful sight!
